CVV response codes

The table below explains the card verification value (CVV) response codes that you might receive when you are carrying out a CVV check or verifying a card.

CVV code	Description
`X`	No CVV2 information is available.
`U`	The issuer has not certified or has not provided the encryption keys to the interchange.
`P`	Card verification not performed, CVD was not on the card. Not all cards have a CVD value encoded.
`Y`	Card verification performed, and CVD was valid.
`D`	Card verification performed, and CVD was invalid.
`N`	Authorizing entity has not attempted card verification or could not verify the CVD due to a security device error.
